Real Wedding – Aria & Jordan Herber – Sunday 8th September 2024

We celebrated Aria & Jordan back in September on a very foggy Sunday! The couple did a lot of the decor and styling themselves, even the cake!

They have told us a little bit about their relationship together and planning their big day!

Firstly a little bit about you..

How did you two meet?

We met online in 2017 from playing video games together, we officially started dating at the end of 2017

Where did you get engaged?

We got engaged down at the waterfront beside our house, the night before was fireworks night, that was when Jordan planned to propose but things ended up going wrong!

Finding your venue and planning the wedding

What was it that first attracted you to Kinkell? Was there something that stood out when you knew it would be the perfect place for your special day?

We wanted something that suited the both of us, something with views and somewhere that made us feel welcome, I think we came to view Kinkell 3 or 4 times just to see how magical it was before booking and each time the Kinkell Team were so attentive and welcoming!

Tell us a little bit about planning your wedding. Where did you start?

We started with venue hunting so we could get an idea of decor, after that we looked at catering, dress shopping for bridesmaids and then the bridal shopping began.

How did you decide on a colour theme or style?

We wanted something that was unique to us, personal touch was a huge factor.

Overall we combined our 2 personalities to create our day, having an alternative touch.

Where did you find your suppliers?

Scott’s catering was recommended by a family friend, and his tasting menu lived up to the expectation!

Flowers by Lindsay I have actually known since I was about 9 years old! She had a girl guiding group in the town I used to live in and we would meet up at Girl Guiding events! Having her create my bouquet was just a surreal moment.

Event Bars, Stephen Leslie and Alex Graham were all at a Kinkell Byre Open Day. I was fully set on having a harpist playing during the day but as soon as we saw Alex and he could play some ‘My Chemical Romance’ I knew it I was paying his deposit!

Event Bars were so accommodating and gave us ideas that we didn’t even think about. Including having personalised cocktails for guests, we chose Pina Coladas!

Is there anything you wish someone had told you about before about planning a barn wedding?

Trust the process!

Things look a bit wild before everything’s set up, you don’t realise how much you actually have until you have to store it!

Was there anything that was really important to you both to have?

We wanted a wedding that people would be talking about for years to come, and I can say we successfully did that!

The Big Day!

Tell us about your wedding day, what are your highlights and favourite memories?

  • Being excited to put my dress on in the morning.
  • Getting to see her walk down the aisle.
  • Going into St Andrews to get photos taken!

Have you any advice for other couples that are planning their wedding?

Slow down and take in every moment, the day goes by so fast and there are so many emotions going on. Save some time for you and your partner.

Also ask your catering for a canopy platter just for you and your other half, game changer!

How is married life treating you?

Amazing! We wouldn’t change it for the world. We are so grateful we got to have one of the best experiences together!
