Speakers
We are delighted to announce we have secured two amazing speakers for this years Ceilidh for Nature!
Mairi Gougeon
Scotland’s Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs, Land Reform and Islands. Mairi is responsible for many things but of primary relevance to us is her responsibility for land reform and land use, forestry and woodlands, the Agriculture Bill and national parks.
It will be absolutely fascinating to hear what she has to say about the government’s role in this and all of us working together to help Scotland’s Nature recover.
Derek Gow
A farmer turned nature conservationist who is rewilding his 300 acre farm. Derek has played a significant role in the reintroduction of the Eurasian beaver, the water vole and the white stork to England. He is currently working on a reintroduction project for the wildcat.
Derek is a fascinating, entertaining and thought provoking speaker with a wealth of experience.

Ceilidh for Nature 2023
Ceilidh for Nature 2023
We organised the first Ceilidh for Nature in December 2023 with the aim of inspiring people to do more for nature while also showing them a good time. The event was a massive success with well over 200 people coming and we are now planning a bigger and better version for December 2024! The ceilidh is a collaboration with Rachel Ives of Balmerino, a regenerative farm and wool producing company on the banks of the Tay.
Last year we had some incredible speakers, including Peter Cairns of Scotland: The Big Picture, who has been at the vanguard of Scotland’s rewilding movement for decades, and Sam Parsons who runs Balcaskie, a pioneering organic farm in the East Neuk of Fife. Wild Rover provided local, seasonal, scrumptious and sustainable food and fife cider was on offer from Aipple as well as fizz produced locally using apples and the traditional method by Naughton Cider Company. The Haggis Chasers ceilidh band kept the party going into the wee hours!
We were also very pleased to raise money from the event for Footprint East Neuk, a local environmental charity.
