Recommended Supplier ~ Gourlay Events
Gourlay Events is a catering and marquee hire company based in Perthshire. We asked them to share a little more information about themselves, where they get their inspiration from, and what their recommendations would be as a supplier we often work with at Kinkell Byre.
What it the story behind Gourlay Events?
Gourlay Events started off in the town of Crieff as a family butchers in 1946 sourcing all ingredients from local farms and the surrounding areas.
In 2009 the family decided to expand the business and offer food for parties and weddings. This took off in a huge way with more and more bookings for weddings all over Scotland. The family reinvested all the money back into the wedding business, by expanding their catering service and buying marquees in which to hold events.
In essence the company has grown much bigger than our wildest dreams, with us catering at country houses, castles and many prestigious buildings throughout Scotland as well as the many marquees that the company now own.
At heart we are still a family business and firmly believe in using local produce, which means most of the meat we offer for wedding breakfasts only travels 40 food miles. We firmly believe that this is at the core of what we offer and why our valued customers recommend us to their friends. It’s great, as this can only be the best advertisement for us and our business.

What is your advice for Kinkell Byre couples?
Make the most of the day before your wedding, by setting up your personal items with family and friends. The wedding day itself will fly by, and the time the day before always feels very special.
Do you have any advice for couples planning their wedding?
Spend the early stages booking the suppliers that you want. The details can wait. Make it the day that you want but do consider how to make a day that your guests are going to enjoy too. They’ll remember the ceremony, the food, and the band.
How do you book and what is the process?
We initially send couples our menus and prices and often invite them in for a tasting. Once they decide to go ahead, we keep in touch in the run up to the wedding to help with any questions that come up along the way. Two weeks before the wedding we look to have all the final details in place. We then meet the couple on site the day before for a final run through.
