Real Wedding – Laura & Andy Hamilton – 13th November 2021

Laura & Andy viewed the venue for the first time virtually during lockdown 2020 then visited in person a few months later and finally tied the knot in November 2021 with their beautiful Alaskan Malamute Akira as their ring bearer! They have kindly answered a few questions to share with you all when it comes to planning the perfect barn wedding

How did you guys meet?

A mutual love for sunsets and dogs, we went on our first date for a dog walk and we had a great time getting lost. A great starting point for our adventure!

What first attracted you to Kinkell Byre? And what made you decide that it would be perfect for your special day?

We are both very much country bumpkins and Kinkell Byre was the first and only venue that we visited. We loved the idea that it is a blank canvas for us to put our own spin on it and as soon as we stood in the ceremony room we knew it was for us.

Tell us a little bit about planning your wedding?

What inspired you to pick all the things that you did and what was most important to you both?

We were engaged just before the pandemic so took full advantage of the time we would never usually have. As most people have learnt through this time is how important family and friends are. We wanted to have a wedding where we could make it feel very personal. Everything we planned had a personal touch but we also wanted to keep it simple. All of our suppliers are close to us either being through friends or family and this meant we were in a very fortunate position as they know us.

What did you both enjoy planning?

The centre pieces and the music were probably two of our highlights. The centre pieces were all handmade and spent a few days in a workshop. The music for our ceremony was enjoyable as we both love films. We also had a laugh going through what would work and not work.

Tell us about your day? What made it so special?

Our day was beyond perfect, we were incredibly lucky because everything that we had planned came to fruition. Our day was magical and we were honoured to share with our closest friends and family.

A massive shout out for making this happen are to Sophie at Kinkell Byre, Rebekah and her breath-taking flowers, Laura our celebrant, Mike our MC/Caterer and Alastair our photographer. Thank you.

What was your favourite part of the day?

Sitting together and just taking everything in, from our nearest and dearest laughing and smiling around us, the incredible venue/flowers and great steak pie.

What advice would you give to other couples?

Before you start planning decide what the top three things you want and don’t sway from these. Most of all stress is overrated, it dampens the enjoyment of your special day. Enjoy everything about your day, it will be one of the best days of your life.

How is married life treating you?

Still in a bubble, love looking back at our pictures but more importantly reminiscing on the memories we made on this day.
