Real Wedding – Rachel & Will Martin – 28th August 2025
After meeting at St Andrews University and coming to a few balls at Kinkell, Rachel and Will decided to come back and have their wedding with us! They had a beautiful ceremony at St Salvators before heading up to us for their drinks reception and dinner.
They did a lot of the decor and flowers themselves, even the cake! They had two incredible bands that played them right through until the end of the night!

Firstly a little bit about you..
How did you two meet?
We were both students at the University of St Andrews!
Where did you get engaged?
We got engaged at Schloss Roxburghe Hotel
Finding your venue and planning the wedding
What was it that first attracted you to Kinkell? Was there something that stood out when you knew it would be the perfect place for your special day?
Will had attended lots of balls and events here during uni and loved it. Our family loved how big and open it was with lots of different areas. The idea of having some of our family and friends stay in the cabins with us that night was so much fun. The staff were amazing and so friendly.
Tell us a little bit about planning your wedding. Where did you start?
We started with venues and a photographer. Once we had these sorted we had a bit of a break before booking everything else. Most of our research was done through instagram where we reached out to the people we liked the look of!
How did you decide on a colour theme or style?
The colour theme changed about 5 times in the year of planning but eventually we just found a bridesmaid dress colour we liked and took it from there. We loved the mix of different coloured flowers to keep it quite rustic to go with the venue.
Where did you find your suppliers?
We found the majority of our suppliers from Instagram! We actually did all the floral arrangements ourselves and got these from the Glasgow Flower Market.
Was there anything that was really important to you both to have?
The main things we wanted to make sure we had was lots of good food and music!!
The Big Day!
Tell us about your wedding day, what are your highlights and favourite memories?
The confetti throw entering Kinkell was so much fun and we loved getting big group photo with Lewis’ drone with the gorgeous backdrop of Kinkell.
We also loved how the dance floor was packed all night. We even ended up wheeling down our sweetie cart onto the dance floor which was a highlight for us!
My uncle did casual video filming throughout the day and I really enjoyed going through it all and editing a highlight video myself when we got back from our holiday!
Have you any advice for other couples that are planning their wedding?
Have fun! At the end of the day, it’s a big party full of all your most loved people. Whatever you have/do will be memorable and special so it’s important not to get bogged down on the tiny details. Everything comes together – especially with the knowledge and expertise of the Kinkell staff.
How is married life treating you?
We’re loving it! We went straight off onto a honeymoon in Italy and now back in Glasgow enjoying married life.
