Story behind Ballintaggart ?

Ballintaggart began in 2016 at Ballintaggart Farm in Highland Perthshire with accommodation, events space and The Cook School by Ballintaggart and has expanded to include The Grandtully Hotel by Ballintaggart, The Feasts by Ballintaggart (atypical catering and events) and The Shop by Ballintaggart in store in Aberfeldy and online. You can see more about us at Ballintaggart.com and we’d love you to visit, stay and dine with us as soon as you can!

What services do you offer couples?

We offer  a full and delicious range of food from private dinners and wedding feasts to picnics, breakfast hampers and drop off dishes. Our team is expert and will ensure that you are guided carefully and that every detail is considered and delivered impeccably. You can expect restaurant quality and personal service.

What would you say is your style?

Ballintaggart’s style is understated, friendly and expert. The Feasts by Ballintaggart (our atypical catering and events team) produces creative menus led by outstanding Scottish ingredients, incredible flavours and served with thoughtful charm.

Where does your inspiration come from?

We are constantly inspired by Scotland’s outstanding natural larder and take time to seek out and work with the very best producers, growers and suppliers. We are proudly part of the Scottish Food Guide and our food has been recognised with 2 AA rosettes for culinary excellence and noted in The Michelin Guide 2023.

We love sharing the stories of our chosen suppliers with our couples and naming them on our menus from Blackthorn Sea salt produced in the Scotland’s only working blackthorn tower to Great Glen Charcuterie, expertly made wild venison products from Roy Bridge. Often our ingredients are made by other small businesses who share our values and our passion. Wherever possible we are inspired by the seasons and work with the finest, locally grown or freshly foraged ingredients available, whatever the time of year.

Why do you like working at Kinkell Byre?

There are lots of reasons we love Kinkell! Working with an expert team who understand our work and values is really important. We also adore fish and shellfish and simply love being by the sea (which is not our regular view in Perthshire!) The venue is a real home from home being a barn full of character, with spectacular views and lots of space. We love that every wedding is unique.

Any personal advice you would give couples when it comes to booking their caterer?

Our advice would be to think about foods you don’t like as much as foods you do as this could help you reach decisions on your wedding food. Give special consideration to any tricky or especially important guests in advance and let your caterer know, the more they have about any special requests, the better.

How do couples get in touch with you and what is your process?

We love getting to know our couples, we take a bespoke approach to menu creation to ensure that every dish really reflects your personality and truly enhances your day. We want the food to be a memorable part of the celebrations for all the right reasons!

Initially, please email hello@ballintaggart.com The Feasts by Ballintaggart team will then be in touch with details of how we might work together and a questionnaire to find out more about the foods you love and your favourite food memories. We’ll then work together with our expert chefs to suggest and refine your menu. There’ll be regular contact with our team as the countdown to your big day rolls and for the day itself, you can trust that you won’t need to think about the food and service other than enjoying your chosen dishes.
