ABOUT YOU

Tell us a little about yourself?

Hello, I’m Susannah – the co-founder of Platter & Pop, a premium catering and events company that specializes in creating unforgettable, design-driven experiences.

We work with our clients to curate bespoke events, that combine exceptional culinary experiences with innovative, aesthetic designs. From corporate galas to luxury weddings and exclusive private events, we focus on every detail to ensure each event feels truly unique and personal.

What sets us apart is our passion for blending artistry and gastronomy to craft events that not only satisfy the senses but also leave a lasting impression. Whether it’s an intimate gathering or a large- scale celebration, our team is dedicated to delivering an elevated experience that reflects the vision and style of our clients.

What is the story behind your company?

I had a background in high-end event design and marketing and I met my co-director Sophie, while working at another caterer, 5 and a half years ago. Sophie came from a wedding venue background and had a floristry business within her family, so we had a shared love of beautifully designed events.

We had both always loved hosting and had a shared passion for beautifully presented, delicious food. Platter and Pop was born from a desire to offer a service to our clients, which would move away from offering the standard bland chicken dinner, so often served at events. We are now one of the few companies in the UK to offer a completely in-house styling and floristry service, alongside our  catering operation, allowing us to create totally unique and very beautiful weddings and events for our clients.

What services do you offer?

Full Event Catering, Styled Food and Drinks Stations, Floristry and Styling.

What is your style?

Design-led, aesthetic food, which is seasonal, freshly prepared and delicious.

Each event is completely tailored to our clients, we love to create unique and fun experiences that will wow our guests.

Where does your inspiration come from?

From our couples and clients, we love to base menus and designs around their food loves and experiences. Incorporating their food loves, travels and memories to create an event that really represents who they are.

What is the “favourite” dish?

I love big family style, sharing feasts. All my loved ones at the table
passing dishes to each other and chatting. I’d probably go for a big bowl of freshly made pasta with help yourself toppings, truffle oil, fresh parmesan, sea salt and cracked black pepper, herbs and roasted veggies. Add in some freshly made focaccia and a butter board and I’d be in food heaven.

Any future plans for the company?

We’ve grown a lot over the past couple of years and it’s so important for us that we keep the same high standards, which the company has built its reputation on. Therefore, we are focussing implementing strong systems and processes within the company and are working on really refining our standards across the whole of the business, to make sure we keep smashing it for our clients.

What is your favourite wedding season?

Autumn I absolutely love the colours at that time of year. We have such beautiful seasons in Scotland.

ABOUT KINKELL BYRE

Why do you like working at Kinkell Byre?

The team are all so friendly and helpful and we can see how much they put into making sure each and every couple has an amazing day. It’s also just so a fantastic and unique space, there are so many different ways to style the venue.

What is your advice for Kinkell Byre couples?

Don’t be afraid to do things your way. We are really moving away from stuffy weddings with hundreds of rules about what can and can’t be done. If there are certain traditions which feel forced or uncomfortable for you – don’t have them. I’d also always really recommend taking a couple of short breaks away from all of your guests and suppliers to have a moment for just the two of you. Take in all the emotions of the day and be present together, it will be a lovely memory to look back on in years to come.

BOOKING
Do you have any advice for couples planning their wedding?

Decide what aspects of the day are most important to you both and then allocate your priorities and budget accordingly. Maybe you want a luxurious 5 course meal or perhaps you want to go all out with a show band and various entertainers throughout the day. Once you define what your main priorities are, focus on booking those first. Don’t get too bogged down with worrying about trends and spending a fortune on things which ultimately you won’t really care about on the day.

How do you book?

Send us an email at info@platterandpop.co.uk to start the process.

What is the process?

We’ll send you our brochure to give you some ideas to start from. We then organise a time to call you for a chat through your ideas for the day and your food loves. We then create a detailed proposal and quotation for you, everything is itemised and there are no hidden costs.
